Columbia mayor wins reelection

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Columbia Mayor Daniel Rickenmann has won re-election. Rickenmann beat out fellow challengers Jessica Thomas and Wade Fulmer in the 2025 municipal elections. Rickenmann got 9,383 votes to Thomas and Fulmer’s 4,930 and 841 votes, respectively. He was first elected as mayor in 2021 after beating now State Sen. Tameika Issac Devine in a runoff election to replace former mayor Steve Benjamin. In that race, he got 10,602 votes to Issac-Devine’s 9,778 votes. During his time as mayor, Rickenmann has established the Office of Violent Crime Prevention and Rapid Shelter Columbia, eliminated on-site parking requirements for some small business buildings, added buffered bike lines to city roads and created the ‘Beat the Heat’ tree-planting program, according to his campaign website.
