Sivaganga Collector K. Porkodi ordered the suspension of three people, including the warden of the Government Social Justice Girl Students’ Hostel in Singampunari, here on Thursday. As the hostel located near the Singampunari Government Girls Higher Secondary School was being operated under the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, Ms. Porkodi made a surprise visit to the hostel on the night of October 28. At that time, neither the warden nor a cook was present. While one of the cooks was present and students’ strength on that particular day stood at 20, the dinner was prepared. In a hostel of 60 students, at night, when students would be returning from schools after their schools and sports, as the food was not cooked, the Collector, infuriated over the lethargic attitude of the staff, ordered their immediate suspension. As per the order, a warden and two cooks were suspended immediately.
