IT major Cognizant has announced that it is using Claude, the large language models (LLM) developed by American Artificial Intelligence (AI) start-up Anthropic for its enterprise customers and internal teams. The company intends to combine the Claude family of models and agentic tooling with its engineering platforms to move from AI experimentation to scaled business outcomes. The US-based technology services firm, which has a major presence in Chennai, plans to align its software engineering and platform offerings with Anthropic’s capabilities including Claude for Enterprise, Claude Code, the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and the Agent SDK. This will help clients integrate AI with existing data and applications, orchestrate multi-step work with human oversight, and more effectively manage performance, risk and spend, the company said in a statement Cognizant will also provide Claude internally to 3,50,000 associates across key corporate functions, engineering and delivery teams to enhance productivity and advance AI maturity, it added. “Enterprises are moving beyond simple productivity gains toward a more connected, agentic future. By pairing Anthropic’s Claude models and agentic tooling with Cognizant’s suite of platforms and industry expertise, we will help clients build the foundations of an agentified enterprise where intelligent systems collaborate with people to accelerate modernization, engineering and industry transformation,” said Ravi Kumar S, CEO of Cognizant. “The combination of frontier AI with deep domain expertise and implementation capabilities will accelerate AI in the enterprise. The initial focus areas for the partnership would include software engineering productivity, legacy modernisation, agentification, and developing vertical Industry solutions among others.
