"As an island nation, we’re in a tricky position with our tourism industry,” says Roisin Finlay, head of marketing and communications with the Sustainable Tourism Network (STN). “You can get here by ferry, but realistically, most people who travel to Ireland do so via plane. We can’t get away from a reliance on aviation, but I still really believe that when tourism is done right, the benefits outweigh the negatives.”
