The Cliff Anderson Sports Hall has been closed for at least one week as remedial works get underway to address a number of issues flagged by FIBA during a recent inspection. This was confirmed by a source within the Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF), who noted that the temporary closure is necessary to ensure the venue meets the required international standards before the start of the CBC Women’s Caribbean Championship on November 12. Among the key works scheduled are the sanding and remarking of the court floor, installation of backboard padding, construction of a technical booth behind the score table, lighting upgrades, and improvements to locker room facilities. These upgrades are expected to directly address concerns raised by the FIBA inspection team earlier this month. The CBC Women’s Caribbean Championship, which will see Guyana hosting teams from Jamaica, the Bahamas, Suriname, and the Virgin Islands, is scheduled to run from November 12–16 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
