In Saudi Arabia this week for the 9th Future Investment Initiative, President Dr Irfaan Ali met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud on Monday where they discussed “strengthening our partnership to ensure material results of potential opportunities in hajj, biodiversity, energy, food, sports, infrastructure and investment and development cooperation. An implementation and follow-up mechanism was agreed to be established between the two results-driven leaders,” the President posted on his Facebook Page. In 2022, the President had announced that Guyana would set up a Saudi Arabia Desk in the Ministry of Finance, with the aim of furthering investments from the kingdom. Additionally, Ali committed a portion of land for the Middle Eastern country to establish an embassy in Guyana. The President had made the commitment during the opening of the Guyana–Saudi Arabia Investment Engagement which was held in Guyana in July 2022 at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.
