A cleanliness competition with cash rewards of up to ₹1 lakh will be part of the mass intensive cleaning drive announced by the North Corporation. The drive will be conducted on November 8 between 10.30 a.m. and 4 p.m., across several key areas in the limits of the North Corporation of the Greater Bangalore Authority. The initiative, led by North Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar, aims to improve sanitation across 93.9 km of roads spread over Hebbal, Pulakeshi Nagar, Sarvagnanagar, Yelahanka, Byatarayanapura, Dasarahalli, and Rajarajeshwari Nagar assembly constituencies. The work will include clearing waste, silt, debris, and tree branches, as well as cleaning storm-water drains and public spaces. The drive will involve multiple departments, including Solid Waste Management, Road Infrastructure, Health, Horticulture, Forest, Lake Management, and the Traffic Police, working in coordination with local organisations. To encourage better performance, the corporation will reward the top three areas based on the quality of their cleaning efforts. First prize will be ₹1 lakh, second prize ₹50,000, and third prize will be ₹25,000. Consolation prizes will also be given at the divisional level, and the winning area will be selected after inspections conducted by NGOs and civic organisations.
