The Padres took to social media on Sunday to tease the next iteration of their City Connect uniforms. The theme appears quite obvious: Dia de los Muertos. The Padres posted a 1-minute, 24-second video on Sunday, the second day of Day of the Dead celebrations throughout Mexico and elsewhere. WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio approaches an altar adorned with lighted candles and marigolds. The San Diego native places a white-ish Padres hat with an interlocking orange “S” and dark-colored “D” with a dark-colored bill on the altar as a woman dressed like La Catrina, a Dia de los Muertos icon, appears behind it. She then disappears in a cloud of smoke and the video flashes to black before announcing the official joint reveal from the Padres and Nike coming in April. It is unclear if the hat in the video is the Padres’ new City Connect lid, or if it’s simply a tease that a new version of the City Connects will arrive early next season. A Padres spokesman said Sunday that the video is all the team will be releasing until April. The Padres’ pink-and-mint City Connects, inspired by the shared culture of both San Diego and Baja California, were worn from 2022 until they were retired after this season. The Diamondbacks, Red Sox, White Sox, Rockies, Astros, Marlins, Giants and Nationals all debuted second-generation City Connects in 2025.
