Cholamandalam MS General Insurance Company (Chola MS), a joint venture between the Murugappa Group and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group of Japan, on Tuesday reported a Gross Written Premium (GWP) of ₹2220 crore in quarter ended September 2025 (Q2FY26) compared to ₹2191 crore in the same quarter last year. The GWP for the half year ended September 2025 (H1FY26) was just marginally up to ₹4217 cr compared to ₹4136 cr in the year-ago period. The company attributed this to the loss of crop business (₹383 crore in corresponding half year) and the 1/n method of GWP recognition effective October 1, 2024. Chola MS also had ₹202 crores of non-motor long term premium in the half year, the recognition of which has been deferred to respective annual periods. The insurer settled over 3 lakh claims in the half year across various lines of business. “Our sustained focus on growth with profitability continues to drive our growth and performance.
