Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamy has highlighted the responsibility of every Hindu to preserve the ancient temples as well as the rich heritage and culture of the country. Along with A.P. Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, he laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction works of Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple at Moolapet in Nellore on Wednesday (October 29). He said: “The history of the Telugu people is unparalleled across India in various aspects, including food, travel and behaviour. Our Telugu script is still visible on the ancient temples of Srirangam and Madhurai in Tamil Nadu. The beautification of the temples should be undertaken to preserve the glory of the Telugu people.” Chinna Jeeyar Swamy further said: “The ancient stone inscriptions, marbles and artifacts should be preserved and handed down to the future generations as the evidence of our rich heritage. The history of the famous temples should not be forgotten. The reconstruction of the ancient temples is paying tributes to our ancestors.” On the occasion, Minister Ramanaraya Reddy said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has given him the responsibility of developing 27,000 temples in the State. He said that the reconstruction of temples across the State has been initiated from the Venugopalaswamy temple. He said that Dalits had been allowed to enter temples in the State with Venugopalaswamy temple. The Minister recalled that hundreds of weddings used to be held in the temple, which has a lot of history and fame, and the temple had been full with devotees. However, the temple has lost its significance over a period of time. He said that the State government has sanctioned ₹17 crore for its reconstruction.
