Charity paddles against breast cancer set to shine in Oliva

After stops in Javea, Denia, Benidorm and Alicante, the charity rowing initiative organised by the Valencian Rowing Federation will next take place on Saturday November 8 in Oliva. Another chance to show unwavering support for everyone affected by breast cancer. Alicante hosted the IV “100 Solidarity Paddles SUMA against Breast Cancer and SUMA Challenges for Equality” on Saturday October 25. The event, organised by the Valencian Rowing Federation, aims to support those living with the disease and raise public awareness, all through rowing. Suma Gestión Tributaria was the main sponsor, with support from Rimontgó, Baleària, HCB Hospitals and Proindegas. The regatta took place inside Alicante Port, with the Real Club de Regatas Alicante as host. Calm seas and favourable weather conditions set the scene for an impressive spectacle. Around one hundred participants took part in this charitable initiative, while large crowds watched the action from various points around the port. As usual, the event featured two separate races. In the Equality Challenge, seven crews competed over a 700-metre course with a turn. The final A was won by Club Náutico Campello. Other participants included Club Rem Marina Denia, Club Náutico Santa Pola, Club Náutico Javea (two teams), Real Club de Regatas Alicante and the Federation’s training school. Meanwhile, the “100 Solidarity Paddles” challenge was for breast cancer survivors. Teams from Regatas Alicante, Marina Denia and Santa Pola each rowed a total of 350 metres, completing this moving display of determination and resilience. Oliva, known for its stunning coastline and calm waters, provides the perfect backdrop for such events. The town has become a hub for water sports, with rowing, sailing and paddleboarding attracting both amateurs and professionals alike. The event in Oliva promises to combine the thrill of competition with a deeply meaningful cause. The Valencian Rowing Federation, organiser of the initiative, is dedicated to promoting the sport while fostering community and solidarity. With a strong focus on charity and awareness campaigns, the Federation ensures that each regatta is not just a sporting event, but also a platform to highlight social causes and inspire collective action.
