In 100 days, the lights will turn on for a 25th Winter Olympics, this time in Milan-Cortina, Italy. Canadian viewers will be treated to round-the-clock broadcasts — 22 hours of daily coverage, to be precise — expert analysis and on-demand highlights throughout the Feb. 6-22 competition, courtesy CBC/Radio-Canada. “Along with our official sports media partners Sportsnet, TSN and RDS, we’re committed to bringing audiences all the action when it happens, as it happens, ensuring fans never miss a medal moment,” said Chris Wilson, general manager of Olympics for CBC/Radio-Canada. About 2,900 athletes from 93 countries will compete in the most spread out Games in Olympics history, spanning the Italian Alps, from Milan to the Austrian and Swiss borders. Here's the breakdown of CBC’s daily programming for the Milan-Cortina Games. Olympic Winter Games Morning hosted by Ron MacLean and Perdita Felicien 6 a.m.-12 noon ET (3-9 a.m. PT) Veteran broadcaster Ron MacLean returns to host his 12th Olympics for CBC, teaming with two-time Olympian and world champion hurdler Perdita Felicien. Audiences will begin each day with insightful news and developing stories, followed by live sport throughout the morning, including snowboarding, alpine skiing and hockey. Olympic Winter Games Daytime hosted by Andi Petrillo 12 noon – 6 p.m. ET (9 a.m.–3 p.m. PT) This program, hosted by award-winning broadcaster Andi Petrillo, will showcase the biggest events of the day. She returns for her seventh Olympics, bringing her vast experience and knowledge to the Milano Cortina primetime competition window. Curling, figure skating, hockey and major medal events will be featured. Olympic Winter Games Primetime hosted by Anastasia Bucsis and Craig McMorris 7-11 p.m. ET (4-8 p.m. PT) Primetime relives the best peformances of the day in an authentic and entertaining format. Anastasia Bucsis, the two-time Olympian and former speed skater, and professional snowboarder Craig McMorris blend athlete insight with big energy, providing a fresh perspective and bringing audiences one step closer to the action. Olympic Winter Games Overnight 12-6 a.m. ET (9 p.m.-3 a.m. PT) This show will provide highlights and replays of the day, along with live coverage of events as they unfold in the early hours of the morning in Italy. The opening ceremony is Feb. 6. On the ground in Milan will be CBC News chief correspondent Adrienne Arsenault and CBC Olympics reporter Devin Heroux hosting live coverage. Petrillo will pull double duty, hosting women’s hockey with former professional player Saroya Tinker. Olympic champion Cassie Campbell-Pascall and Hailey Salvian join the panel from Milan. Providing play-by-play and analysis will be sportscaster Kenzie Lalonde and Cheryl Pounder. Daniella Ponticelli and Olympic champion Becky Kellar also provide commentary, with Claire Hanna reporting rinkside. Cuthbert to call Olympic men's hockey The men’s hockey panel will consist of James Duthie, Kevin Bieksa, Elliotte Friedman, Campbell-Pascall and Pounder. Veteran sportscaster Chris Cuthbert and former NHL player Mike Johnston will handle play-by-play and analysis. Matt Cullen and Becky Kellar also provide commentary, while Kyle Bukauskas will serve as rinkside reporter. Special contributors across all platforms include sportscasters Ariel Helwani, Cabral “Cabbie” Richards and Donnovan Bennett, professional figure skater Eladje Balde and Phylicia George, dual season Olympian.
