Celebrity Traitors final breaks viewership records for BBC as Alan Carr asks 'what have I become'

The Celebrity Traitors final has broken viewership records for BBC as Alan Carr asked ‘what have I become’ following his victory. Popular comedian Alan burst into tears when he revealed that he was a traitor to faithfuls comedian Nick Mohammed and historian David Olusoga in Thursday night’s (November 6) finale. Moments before this, rugby star Joe Marler was banished after Nick and David became suspicious of him saying sorry to traitor Cat Burns, who was working with Alan. Speaking in a talking head after winning £87,500 for children's cancer charity Neuroblastoma UK, Alan said: “All that lying was worth it, all that money is going to them, they are a wonderful charity. “What a roller coaster, maybe I do exaggerate a showbiz story but it was tough lying to people.” It’s now been revealed the the season finale of the Claudia Winkleman series secured the biggest overnight audience for the BBC since the final episode of Gavin And Stacey. Airing on Christmas Day, the James Corden and Ruth Jones sitcom’s finale was watched live by an average of 12.3 million viewers. The BBC have now confirmed that the final of the Celebrity Traitors was watched by an average of 11.1 million, with a peak of 12 million tuning in. Hours before the episode aired, the finale was accidentally leaked online following a mistake by Canadian streaming site Crave, meaning many viewers knew Alan won. Since the UK version began in 2022, millions of fans have watched The Traitors on the BBC and it has picked up a Bafta TV Award for best reality and constructed factual programme and best entertainment performance for Winkleman. This was the first UK celebrity series of the popular reality show and has been a ratings hit for the BBC, attracting more than six million viewers when it launched on October 8. Now that he’s been crowned the winner of the series, Alan joked that he has gained a ‘taste for killing’ from his mischievous antics. In a video posted on BBC iPlayer’s Instagram account, Alan said: “It feels absolutely amazing to be crowned the winner of Traitors. I mean, who even knew that this would happen? “I mean, I have, I think, surprised the nation. And most importantly, I’ve surprised myself. I’m still in shock.” According to Alan , his favourite moment was actress Celia’s Imrie’s fart, while his favourite kill was comedian Lucy Beaumont. “And you know what? I got such a taste for killing. It was nice to see their eyes as I murdered them. What have I become? “This whole experience has been mind-blowing. It’s been wonderful. It has changed me, I think, as a person and I’ve absolutely loved it. But you know, all good things must come to an end,” he noted.
