The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a reminder and advisory to schools stating that it is compulsory for all CBSE-affiliated schools to provide the registration number of Class 11 to their students applying for JEE Main 2026. CBSE today issued an official notice reminding schools to ensure that this step is not missed. "In the Class X/XII Board Examinations Date Sheet issued by the Board vide circular dated 30.10.2025, it was mentioned that NTA will require the registration number of Class XI students to be filled in the JEE (Main) application. Accordingly, all the schools are requested to provide the registration number of Class XI to their students applying for JEE (Main)," the official notice stated. "Despite the above instructions, many parents and students have approached the Board with grievances that Class XII students appearing for the JEE 2026 exam are not getting their Class XI registration numbers from the respective schools," the notice added. "This matter has been seriously viewed by the Board. It is once again reiterated that schools must invariably provide the Class XI registration number to students appearing for the JEE Exam 2026." The Board had earlier too released a notice asking all JEE aspirants to provide their Class 11 registration details in the application form itself. The registration number will allow the National Testing Agency (NTA) to schedule JEE Main exams without overlapping with the CBSE board exams. Meanwhile, like last few years, this time too CBSE has scheduled the board exams 2026 keeping in mind that there are no clashes with the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026. Since class 12 students appear in the JEE Mains exam, the board has scheduled the last exam for session 2 on April 9, which is a day before the JEE Mains exam on April 10. CBSE issued a revised exam timetable for board exams 2026 to ensure previous clashes can be taken out. The board claimed that it has revised several subject exam dates, including accountancy, psychology, geography, and business studies. The February 21 exam will now cover automotive and fashion studies instead of business studies and administration.
