Former Sky Sports News presenter Kirsty Gallacher has revealed she was physically assaulted by a masked attacker in Central London on Tuesday evening. Gallacher said she was 'kicked in the middle of the street' during the incident at around 7pm, which left her shocked, and added that she has the bruises to 'prove' what happened. The former GB News host said she was walking back to her car in the dark after work when the incident occurred and thanked a woman who came to her aid. Gallacher also said she was ‘disappointed’ by a nearby security guard, whom she described as ‘absolutely useless’ for not stepping forward to help. Kirsty Gallacher Attacked in London Gallacher spoke about the attack on Instagram, saying she was 'kicked like a football' during the unprovoked incident: “Last night I was physically assaulted in the streets of central London walking from work to my car, the walk I do most nights. The streets are well lit. There were people around. “I was walking on the pavement, and I noticed this guy, all in black, covered up, actually, just walking at me. And I'm always vigilant. And he was just walking towards me, and so I moved out of the way, and then he brushed past me. “He turned around, and he kicked me like he was kicking a football. He kicked me in the middle of a street at about seven o'clock last night, in front of people, and I turned around and he scarpered. “I'm still shocked now, and I have the bruises to prove I'm afraid. I can't quite believe what happened. I was not being provocative in any way. I was just going about my business as you do. I was just walking to my car to go back home to my family.” Former professional boxer Carl Froch commented on Gallacher’s post on Instagram: “Disgraceful! Wish I was there, he can’t run when he’s been rendered unconscious. When @ntmiddleton [Ant Middleton] becomes Mayor the streets of London will be much safer. Until then please be extra cautious & I hope you’re feeling better now.” According to the 2025 Numbeo Crime Index, a crowd-sourced system that measures crime levels in cities and countries, London is the 15th most dangerous city in Europe, with five cities in the United Kingdom making the top 15. London ranks 101st out of 385 cities worldwide and is considered less safe than other European capitals, including Athens, Brussels and Dublin, as well as major US cities like New York and Los Angeles.
