Caricom leaders should not accept without evidence, word from the United States that its extrajudicial killings are elimi-nating threats as this goes against the respect of the rule of law, and if Washington feels threatened it should report this to the United Nations which is the agency responsible for international peace and security, Prime Minis-ter of Barbados Mia Mottley has said. “I believe that the time has come for us, therefore, to be able to ensure that we do not accept that any entity has the right to engage in extrajudicial killings of persons that they suspect of being involved in criminal activities,” Mottley said during her address at the 86th Conferen-ce of the Barbados Labour Party, held at Queens Park, Bridge-town. “As I said, we stand for the rule of law, and we believe that if there is other intelligence available that would cause you to take action that is an immediate threat to you as a nation, then you have a duty to share it with us,” she added. Mottley said that if the region ever needed a reminder of how unstable and how dangerous this world is, alongside being vulnerable, it need only look at the multiplicity of threats it faces now, especially the “menacing military vessels from the United States across the Caribbean Sea”.
