Bunbury, Australind men charged over dangerous move at Metallica concert at Optus Stadium

Two men have been charged over dangerous antics at Metallica’s epic concert at Optus Stadium on Saturday night. WA Police allege a 20-year-old man from the Bunbury suburb of Carey Park and a 23-year-old man from Australind climbed up the central tower inside the stadium during the American band’s two-hour set. The pair have been summoned to appear in court at a later date, charged with trespass. Metallica kicked off their M72 world tour in Perth in front of 60,000 fans, where they played 16 classic hits from the 1980s and ’90s as well as some later material. The merchandise lines dwarfed beer tap queues as diehards sought the special edition black swan-themed Perth concert T-shirts. It was Metallica’s sixth trip to WA, having first performed in Perth at the since-demolished Entertainment Centre in 1993.
