Browns Predicted to Move on From $57 Million Veteran Despite Win vs Dolphins

Despite the Miami Dolphins not being a great team, it was impressive that the Cleveland Browns came out and took care of business against them in Week 7. At the end of the day, the Browns haven’t been playing good football, and any positive is a step in the right direction for this organization. More news: Browns Facing Backlash After Latest Shedeur Sanders Decision While this shouldn't change many things for the Browns, it also goes to show that on any given Sunday, this is a team capable of winning games. There's a possibility that will have an impact on the front office's thoughts heading into the trade deadline, but it seemingly didn't matter when they decided to move on from Greg Newsome. The expectation is for the Browns to move on from other players over the next few weeks. Over the past few years, David Njoku, the Browns' starting tight end, has been named a trade candidate multiple times. Njoku has yet to be moved, but considering he's a free agent at the end of this year, many believe that the Browns will now cut ties with him. That includes USA Today's Cory Kinnan, who listed Njoku as one of five players that the Browns could move on from before the deadline. “The Browns run a ton of 12 personnel, or two-tight end sets. David Njoku, a leader on the team and a former Pro Bowler just two years ago, is not an easy name to mention as a trade candidate. He's a player that I'd rather see extended than traded. But we're sitting in the midst of a 2-5 season and he's one of the few players who holds tradeable value. “Njoku is a free agent after the season, looks a bit less explosive as the weight has been added to his frame, and the Browns might seek to find a cheaper option as that in-line tight end as rookie Harold Fannin Jr. holds down the F-tight end role,” he wrote. More news: Browns Insider Provides Unfortunate Timeline on Shedeur Sanders as Starter Njoku should be able to help out a contender, ultimately giving himself a chance to win games at the highest level at the back of this year. If he impresses, the New Jersey native should also have a decent free agency market.
