The Denver Broncos own the best record in the NFL – at least for a few days – following a 10-7 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Sitting at 8-2 on the season, Broncos head coach Sean Payton is pleased, but he knows his team’s execution remains an ongoing process. “Obviously, we’ve got to clean up the penalties, we’ve got to clean up some of the execution. And that is an ongoing thing that probably never ends. You search for that Shangri-La,” he said after the game. “Right now, we’re a team that’s sitting at eight wins. I think we’re the only team that’s sitting there. And yet, we’re constantly looking internally. It was a tough night offensively, obviously, and I give them credit,” he added. One of those came from star defensive lineman Zach Allen, who signed a four-year, $102 million deal ahead of the 2025 season. Allen, who leads the NFL with 28 quarterback hits so far this season, added to his total with what many on social media are calling a “dirty” hit on Smith. The hit came after the Raiders quarterback tossed a pass and drew ire from fans who thought it was both late and low as Allen wrapped up Smith around his knees and dragged him to the ground. “Nah this was such a late dirty hit on Geno smith and the announcers said nothing,” one person noted. No idea how a ref who’s staring right at this just doesn’t throw a flag,” offered another. “This is about as dirty as it gets from Zach Allen,” another pointed out.
