Billionaire David Geffen's estranged younger husband is in dire financial straits according to court documents filed in the couple's messy divorce. The 82-year-old entertainment mogul is in the middle of a dramatic split with his much younger spouse Donovan Michaels, a 32-year-old former go-go dancer. In a jaw-dropping lawsuit filed in July Michaels claimed Geffen - whose net worth is reportedly $9.1billion - used a 'toxic mix of seduction, control, promises of love, and lavish displays of wealth to entrap' him in 'a cycle of dependency, submission, and humiliation'. That suit was abruptly dropped in October, but both sides are still fighting over the spousal support in the divorce, per legal documents viewed by The Daily Mail. Documents filed on October 31 showed that Michaels listed a total of just $7,518 in cash and savings. He did not list any of the support he has allegedly received from Geffen since they were separated or during their 23-month marriage. The income and expense declaration stated that Michaels 'receives funds' from Geffen, although 'the nature of which in total amount is unknown'. The billionaire mogul's attorneys said he has done everything possible to resolve the spousal support issue. In a signed declaration, Geffen said: 'While I have continued to support Donovan and I have made every effort to reach a global settlement in this matter, Donovan and his legal team have not participated in good faith.' Geffen's attorneys said the 82-year-old billionaire paid at least $500,000 to Michaels since their separation, as well as $50,000 toward his former beau's legal fees. Among Geffen's claims, he alleged to have paid $198,450 for Michaels to stay at a 'private ultra luxury drug rehabilitation center' for 'as long as he wanted.' Michaels had been receiving $25,000 per month since June of this year, Geffen declared. Michaels has previously claimed that he is entitled to community property. Court filings by Geffen in September said he was willing to pay up to $50,000 a month in spousal support, but only for a year and only if he gets credit for what he has already paid. His attorney Laura Wasser argued Geffen is retired and never worked during the couple's short-lived marriage, meaning that there is no communal property to divide. Geffen declared: 'I would very much like to put this chapter behind me.' The mogul is still fighting to keep his assets and finances private. He filed his income declaration on October 22, but the document has no information on it other than this sentence: 'Petitioner's monthly expenses are irrelevant to the calculation of reasonable spousal support payable to Respondent.' Michaels' attorney, Samantha Spector, filed an objection that same day. She asked the court to sanction Geffen $30,000 and to strike the billionaire's prior request to end his spousal support. Spector accused Geffen of not being transparent with his finances, claiming they were 'complex, complicated and likely concealed within a labyrinth of investment as well as business activities.' She also called for a forensic accountant to go through the entertainment tycoon's income. 'This is quite literally a case of David and Goliath, whether there is a great socio-economic disparity between the parties,' the objection said. 'Donovan is being unfairly outspent in a divorce against an opponent (David) who is prepared to win by any means necessary.' In Michaels' July civil suit, he said the couple's split happened after Geffen filed for divorce back in May and was 'not about a mere personal falling out.' He alleged the break was about the 'systemic exploitation of a vulnerable, marginalized young gay black man by a wealthy, powerful white gay billionaire who believed himself untouchable.' In his complaint, Michaels said that while he was in Florida, he got involved in 'exotic dancing and X-rated videos.' In order to 'survive', he later joined a website called SeekingArrangements.com, which is where Geffen allegedly reached out to him and was 'more than eager to meet Michaels in person.' Geffen allegedly paid Michaels $10,000 for sex on the night they first met back in 2016. Over time, their allegedly paid sexual encounters developed into a romantic partnership, per the lawsuit seen by the Daily Mail. 'Geffen told Michaels he loved him, and the two agreed to treat each other as life partners, share all assets equally, and that Geffen would support Michaels financially for life,' the complaint stated. 'Michaels gave up his dreams - his modeling career, his independence - to dedicate himself fully to this promise,' it added. The suit claimed that, as Geffen was surrounded by A-list guests aboard his superyacht in Venice ahead of the Jeff Bezos-Lauren Sanchez wedding, he was simultaneously ordering Michaels to 'immediately vacate' their New York home. 'Geffen also found additional ways to satisfy his unquenchable thirst for control over Michaels,' the lawsuit claimed. 'With backhanded insults and put-downs about Michaels' past and lack of sophistication, Geffen cultivated Michaels' insecurity and self-doubt. He critiqued every aspect of Michaels' appearance and exercised strict control over his body hygiene.' The billionaire record executive allegedly directed his former partner to 'undergo extensive, painful' treatments to reach his idea of 'perfection'. Michaels said he was 'awestruck by Geffen', a 'philanthropist' who 'talked the talk' when the younger man revealed issues 'during his underprivileged upbringing.' In his complaint, Michaels said he 'opened up to Geffen', confiding in him 'about the painful realities of his life - his traumatic upbringing in the Michigan foster care system, his lack of a real family, his instability, and his prior run-ins with the law'. Michaels alleged his future husband 'weaponized [his] vulnerability to fulfill his own personal fantasies.' The younger man alleged he became a 'private sexual object and a public prop' for Geffen. Geffen and Michaels reportedly tied the knot quietly in Beverly Hills. Just weeks later, the pair were spotted stepping off a Manhattan helipad, with Geffen flashing a gold wedding band — the first public clue the mogul had made it official with his much-younger boyfriend. Michaels' real name is David Andrew Armstrong, according to legal documents. Geffen came out as gay in 1992 after years of being linked to well-known women, including Cher.
