It was a moment of pride and celebration at this year’s convocation ceremony of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, as Miss Oluwakemi Obayemi, daughter of Mr. Tope Obayemi, emerged among the few graduates who finished with first-class honours. Oluwakemi, a graduate of Public Health, also received an award for outstanding academic performance. Beaming with joy, her father expressed gratitude to the university, his daughter, and God for the remarkable success she achieved during her years of study. “She is the apple of my eye. I thank God that she has blossomed beautifully. I believe she will excel in whatever she sets her mind to,” he said. In her response, Oluwakemi appreciated her father’s unwavering support throughout her academic journey. “My dad has always been there for me. He wanted me to graduate with a Second Class Upper, but I’m glad I exceeded his expectations,” she said with a smile. In their congratulatory messages, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Jonathan Babalola, commended the graduates and their parents for choosing Bowen University. Professor Babalola reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to producing graduates with sound minds and strong moral values, while Oba Akanbi pledged continued support for the university’s growth. The Vice Chancellor also urged the new graduates to be worthy ambassadors of the institution and wished them success in their future endeavours.
