Media mogul and broadcaster Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, has been named the inaugural honouree of The Creatives’ Space of Fame — a newly established recognition platform celebrating pioneers and innovators in Ghana’s creative and cultural industries. The debut edition, themed “A Decade in the Making,” was conceived and refined over ten years by Nana Otu Gyandoh, the creator of the initiative. Described as “a living hall of honour,” the Space of Fame is designed to chronicle and celebrate individuals who have not only excelled creatively but also contributed to building systems and structures that sustain Ghana’s and Africa’s creative economy. Bola Ray’s recognition marks a fitting beginning for the platform. His career — which began in 1997 at Radio Universe — has come to represent the seamless blend of creativity, enterprise, and leadership that defines Ghana’s modern media and entertainment landscape. From his energetic early years at Radio Universe to his transformative run at Top Radio’s “Top City Jam” between 2001 and 2003, Bola Ray shaped the tone of urban personality radio before the term even became common in Ghana. His subsequent eleven-year tenure on Joy FM’s Drive Time made him a household name, amplified by his television presence on TV3’s Music Music. But Bola Ray’s influence has extended far beyond the microphone. As the CEO of EIB Network, home to Starr FM, GHOne TV, and Live FM, he has redefined creative media as both a cultural and corporate force. Through Empire Entertainment, his team also produced the Ghana Meets Naija concert series — a flagship cultural exchange that bridged Ghanaian and Nigerian music long before the rise of “Afrobeats to the World.” According to the citation, Bola Ray is being honoured “for distinguished service to Ghana’s creative and media industry; for elevating media practice into the heart of management and corporate leadership; for establishing institutions that created new paths and opportunities for young creatives; and for promoting West African music and culture through bold enterprise and visionary drive.” In his 2021 memoir, It Is Possible, Bola Ray documented his journey through radio, business, and leadership — offering what many now consider a blueprint for young creatives navigating Ghana’s fast-evolving creative economy. His mantra, “build systems, not moments,” continues to guide his philosophy in both media and management. Most recently, Bola Ray was appointed Brand Ambassador for GoldBod Jewellery, a subsidiary of the Ghana Gold Board — a role that connects his media influence with Ghana’s gold artistry and export story. As the first inductee into The Creatives’ Space of Fame, Bola Ray’s career stands as both a mirror and a map for what the platform seeks to achieve: celebrating visionaries who not only shape culture but build the foundations that allow others to thrive.
