BMW Motorrad has officially unveiled the production version of the F 450 GS at the EICMA 2025 motorcycle show, marking the brand’s newest addition to the GS adventure line-up. With the G 310 GS discontinued, the F 450 GS will now serve as the entry-level GS model, aimed at new riders seeking a balance between performance and versatility. The motorcycle will be manufactured in India by TVS, reinforcing the BMW-TVS partnership that has produced successful models like the G 310 R and G 310 GS. Engine and performance At the heart of the BMW F 450 GS is a 420cc parallel-twin engine that produces 48hp at 8,750 rpm and 43Nm of peak torque at 6,750 rpm. The engine is paired with BMW’s Shift Assistant Pro, enabling clutchless upshifts and downshifts for smoother, faster gear changes. A stainless steel exhaust system with dual catalytic converters sits neatly on the right-hand side, ensuring compliance with global emission norms while adding a premium aesthetic touch. Design and hardware Weighing 178kg (kerb), the new F 450 GS sports a quad-LED DRL setup inspired by the new R 1300 GS, giving it a distinct family resemblance. Suspension duties are handled by a KYB upside-down fork at the front and a KYB monoshock at the rear, adjustable for preload and rebound with travel-dependent damping. Braking is managed by Brembo (front) and ByBre (rear) calipers, integrated with BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) and Dynamic Brake Light systems for improved safety. The bike rides on adjustable footrests and hand levers, while heated grips and a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity come standard. Easy Ride Clutch and ergonomics BMW has introduced the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) system on the F 450 GS to enhance comfort and reduce lever effort, especially during stop-and-go riding or off-road conditions. This feature is standard on the Trophy variant and available as an upgrade on the others. The motorcycle also features adjustable gearshift and footbrake levers, ensuring optimal control on both tarmac and trails. Variants and features BMW will offer the F 450 GS in four variants — each with a unique feature package tailored to different riding styles: Customization and accessories BMW Motorrad will also offer a wide range of factory accessories, including: Cross-spoke wheels Multiple windshield options for improved wind protection Luggage systems and handlebar risers Various seat options, including a Rally and low seat Aluminium engine guard for added off-road protection India launch and positioning The BMW F 450 GS is expected to launch in India in early 2026, serving as a global model produced locally by TVS. It will compete with rivals like the KTM 390 Adventure, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, and Triumph Scrambler 400 X. Given its specs and features, the F 450 GS is poised to become one of the most advanced sub-500cc adventure motorcycles in the segment, blending German engineering with Indian manufacturing efficiency.
