Blumhouse Games has hired Amanda Kruse as head of business development to help expand the games division. In her new role as vice president of business development, Kruse will build and grow relationships with multimedia partners in interactive entertainment, supporting Blumhouse Games’ vision of bringing original, indie horror experiences to players worldwide. “Joining Blumhouse Games is an exciting next step,” Kruse said in a statement. “There’s so much creative energy in the horror space right now, and I’m excited to support original games that challenge, surprise and haunt players in all the best ways.” Kruse joins from Big Fan Games, a Devolver Digital’s label focused on adapting stories from film, TV and literature into original, developer-led games such as “Hellboy Web of Wyrd” and “John Wick Hex.” There, she served as head of business development. Before that, she was head of development at production company Hivemind (“The Witcher,” “The Expanse”), and previously co-founded Lionsgate’s first games division, where she served as creative director on more than 40 titles, including “Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid,” “Blair Witch” and integrations with “Fortnite” and “Dead by Daylight.” “Amanda’s deep understanding of games, her eye for transmedia storytelling, and her passion for pushing creative boundaries make her an ideal addition to Blumhouse,” Zach Wood, president of Blumhouse Games, said. “Her cross-media experience will help us continue to shape bold, distinctive interactive worlds.” Blumhouse Games’ leadership expansion follows their recent announcement that one of their debut games, “Fear the Spotlight,” will continue its story in an upcoming graphic novel, with an all new mystery penned by Patricia Villeto (“Sonic Prime,” “Tigtone,” “Ben 10”), and feature the visuals of Claudia Leonardi, known for her work on the “Life is Strange” graphic novels.
