Blockbuster Eagles, Myles Garrett rumor resurfaces ahead of trade deadline

Shortly after Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett announced in February that he wanted to be traded, reports emerged suggesting that Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman could attempt a blockbuster trade to acquire the star pass-rusher. The Browns ultimately signed Garrett to a four-year, $160M contract extension that included $123.5M guaranteed. However, Garrett, who has repeatedly expressed his frustration with the 2-6 Browns this fall, has sparked new rumors about his future ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline. During a Thursday appearance on Nashville sports radio station 102.5 The Game, NFL insider Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports indicated that Roseman hasn't yet given up on his Garrett-related dream. Are Eagles preparing to make "'Godfather' offer" for Myles Garrett? "Rumor going around … and I have not heard it out of the Eagles, but I’ve heard it from a couple of other super high-ranking people in other teams that are clearly on the phones, that Howie Roseman and the Eagles are super hot after Myles Garrett. That Howie would give up, like, three first-round picks for him," Robinson explained, per Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green Nation. Multiple reports from earlier this week claimed that there is "zero chance" Cleveland will part ways with Garrett before the trade deadline on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, in part because the Browns "hope to find their franchise quarterback by next season." Even if the Browns accomplish that goal, logic suggests Cleveland is still more than one offseason away from being competitive. In theory, stockpiling on future draft assets now could accelerate the franchise's needed roster rebuild. What could Browns want in return for Myles Garrett? Three first-round draft picks may not be enough for the Eagles or any other team to acquire Garrett this fall. Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated previously speculated "for argument’s sake" that Cleveland could want "two first-round picks, a 2026 second-round pick, and a ’27 third-round pick" for Garrett. The Athletic's Zac Jackson later mentioned that the Browns might ask for "four first-round" draft choices in exchange for Garrett. "Howie would really love a shot at [Garrett]," Robinson added. "But, again, I was told by the Browns they’re not interested in moving him." It seems like some believe the Browns haven't fully closed the door on trading Garrett before Nov. 4.
