Belizean-American Fatally Shot in California A 19-year-old Belizean-American Marine was shot and killed early Saturday morning during a Halloween party at a vacant business building in Lancaster, California. Authorities identified the victim as Lance Corporal Tevon Wade, originally from Rosamond, with ties to Belize. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies were called to the 100 block of West Avenue I, near Division Street, around 12:45 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found Wade suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. According to investigators, the fatal shooting followed a fight that broke out inside the Halloween event. “While outside the building, the victim was shot by an unknown suspect. The suspect fled in an unknown direction,” the department said in a statement. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed Wade’s cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds, classifying the case as a homicide. Friends and fellow Marines have since paid tribute to Wade, describing him as a disciplined and kind young man. A GoFundMe campaign titled “Help LCpl Wade’s Family Through This Loss” was launched by Justin Calderon, who identified himself as Wade’s senior Marine. “LCpl Wade was the nicest, most respectful young man out there,” Calderon wrote. “It is so sad that he had to leave this world in such a horrible way, but God will keep his spirit in a safe place.” Calderon said the fundraiser aims to support Wade’s family, as he was the main source of income in his household. A suspect remains at large.
