The Chicago Bears and quarterback Caleb Williams were looking to continue their four-game winning streak in Week 8 NFL action against the Baltimore Ravens. With Lamar Jackson missing another game, the Bears were favored by many to win the game. Unfortunately, a win was not in the cards for Chicago. Instead, the Ravens ended up taking home a win by a final score of 30-16. After four straight weeks of great football, the Bears took a step back against Baltimore. It’s not the end of the world to drop to 4-3, but a 5-2 record would have looked very nice in a stacked NFC playoff race. Caleb Williams #18 of the Chicago Bears scrambles and looks to pass during an NFL football game against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on October 26, 2025 in Baltimore, Maryland. Williams completed 25 of his 38 pass attempts for 285 yards, no touchdowns, and one interceptions against the Ravens. He also ran for 24 yards on three attempts. While he didn’t post horrible numbers, Johnson noted a couple of clear mistakes that Williams made throughout the game. Most notably, Williams had two intentional grounding penalties in the game. One of those occurred to end the first half that forced the Bears to rush and end up missing a 58-yard field goal. “I thought we had a chance there for points before half. We had a good opportunity to do that,” Johnson said. “The intentional grounding certainly didn’t help. So now, we were in a position [where it was] third-and-long with no timeouts, where we know if it is a clock running, and we are short of the line of gain, that we will need to get our hurricane unit out there, our field goal team out there, really quick. I thought the execution of all that was nice, but that is a really long field goal. It’s a low percentage deal. [It’s] something that we would like to avoid. That intentional grounding certainly hurt us.” He also took note of the interception that Williams threw. “I didn’t quite see it,” he replied. “I will have to check it out on film just one more time. In my mind, there might have been another option that we could have gotten to.” Read more: 49ers’ George Kittle Rips Into Offense Following Loss to Texans It wasn’t a great game for the young quarterback. However, it also isn’t a game that should be overreacted to. Chicago will now look to bounce back in Week 9 when it takes on the Cincinnati Bengals on the road. Williams and company will need to look in the mirror and fix the things that caused them to lose to the Ravens. There is no question that the Bears have the talent to be a playoff caliber football team. They simply need to put it all together and play consistent football.
