Baby Bonus returns to help families in Calpe’s internationally diverse community

Families in Calpe have until November 10 to apply for the 2025 Baby Bonus scheme. The initiative offers financial support of up to €500 to help cover essential baby products, childcare items, clothing, pharmacy and health products, and baby food, all purchased locally. The scheme is aimed at families with children aged between 0 and 3 years, whether born or adopted, provided at least one parent has been registered in Calpe for the past five years. Applicants must also meet one of the following conditions: Unemployed, Temporarily laid off under a furlough scheme (ERTE), Household income below four times the IPREM, General large families, single-parent families with a dependent child, families with a member with up to 33% disability, victims of gender-based violence, or young people under 30 (household income below 4.5 times the IPREM), Persons with more than 33% disability, special category large families (household income below five times the IPREM). Financial aid of up to €500 available for children aged 0–3 Calpe is one of the towns in the Costa Blanca and Spain with a higher proportion of foreign residents than locals, making initiatives like the Baby Bonus especially important to support its diverse population. This demographic trend is particularly strong along the coast, where Calpe shines. According to the municipal profile produced by the Valencian Community, of the foreign population living in the town at the foot of the Penyal, 22.3 per cent come from European Union countries, 16.8 per cent from other European nations, 8.1 per cent from the Americas, and 4.3 per cent from Africa. Eligible expenses include hygiene products, pharmaceuticals, clothing, complementary items, and other goods of a similar nature for the child. The scheme also aims to promote local businesses, as funds can only be used in shops officially licensed in Calpe. The Baby Bonus serves a dual purpose: supporting families with early childhood costs while boosting local trade. Parents must submit receipts for purchases made from the child’s birth or adoption until the date of application. Applications can be submitted online via the electronic office or in person at the Citizen Service Office.
