The speakers at Auburn football’s Tuesday morning practice were loud as the Tigers prepare for this weekend’s game at Arkansas Auburn’s offensive line practiced extensively with crowd noise, as previous road games revealed struggles with hearing and comprehending play calls. Early this month Auburn coach Hugh Freeze reported that the medical staff discovered hearing issues with starting left tackle Xavier Chaplin. Tuesday after practice, Chaplin told members of the media he’s a lot more comfortable heading into the environment in Arkansas this week. “I’m very comfortable because I feel like we had the two loudest environments we’re going to have already, and that was at Oklahoma and Texas A&M. So, I’m very confident going to Arkansas,” Chaplin said. “I’m not worried about the crowd noise or nothing like that. Practicing with the speaker helps, but I feel like that it’s going to be louder in Arkansas.” Chaplin had two false starts during the Tigers’ last road loss at Texas A&M. As a team, Auburn has committed 13 pre-snap penalties on the road. After giving up 10 total pressures to start the season, Chaplin allowed zero against Georgia and one against Missouri. He’s also committed just one penalty in the Tigers’ last two home games. Kickoff for Auburn and Arkansas will be Saturday, October 26, at 11:45 a.m. on the SEC Network.
