LOCATED on Mojacar’s idyllic Paseo del Mediterraneo, a local specialty coffee café is stealing the hearts of residents and quickly becoming a favourite for hungry passersby. Founded in 2021, Coffee House Mojacar, a sweet spot with a delicious variety of coffee, pastries, and mouth-watering dishes, overlooks the sea to give visitors a tranquil breakfast, brunch, or lunch in the scenic town of Mojacar. Not just a sweet breakfast and brunch, but a delicious lunch as well With takeout, dine-in, and outdoor seating options, Coffee House Mojacar has quickly become a go-to spot for Mojacar residents looking not only for coffee and brunch, but for lunch as well. Next to the calming sounds of the sea, combined with the soft chatter of local patrons, the restaurant is a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life in Mojacar, and prepares delicious, specially-made coffee options, savoury dishes, and homemade cakes and cookies. Equipped with vegetarian, dairy, and gluten-free options, the Coffee House is perfect for anyone, no matter their allergies or health situation. According to owner Bianca, the most popular dishes at the moment, especially for the colder months, include freshly-made smashed avocado and poached eggs, chicken avocado and ciabattas, lemon chicken, and slow-cooked beef. The homemade cakes are also a hit at the café, very popular among the diverse patrons. Mehdi and Bianca, an international duo with passion and experience Bianca, who runs the restaurant with her husband, Mehdi, interviewed with The Euro Weekly News to comment on some of the things that have been making Coffee House Mojacar a go-to not only for Spanish patrons, but for international ones as well. “We definitely have a mixture of clientele.” She added that the repeat customers “enjoy the fact that we make everything fresh. It’s all high quality, and it’s a beautiful setting.” Bianca, an Australian originally from Melbourne, started as a barista and has worldwide experience in hospitality, from Australia to the UK and now, Spain. Her husband, Mehdi, is a trained chef who started off in South Kensington, London and has since also worked in a variety of places all over the world. Together, the international duo make Coffee House Mojacar a special taste of home. “A lot of our menu is more of an Australian-style café. Very much inspired by the beachfront Australian cafés back home because we love brunch.” “We put a lot of time and consideration into our brand and our décor. That carries a cross throughout our entire business. I think that people appreciate that.” Bianca continued, “It’s a small selection, but we do what we do and we do it very well. We try to stay on-brand.” Coffee House Mojacar, putting the environment at the forefront The restaurateur made it clear that one of the foundational aspects of Coffee House Mojacar is its eco-friendliness. “We’re a very environmentally-conscious business. We try to source as much local produce as possible. All of our takeaway containers and our takeaway coffee cups are biodegradable or recyclable. We live in a beautiful environment, and we don’t want to spoil the environment. We always lead with that in mind as well.” It was a benchmark conversation the couple had before opening up the restaurant. “We weren’t going to compromise on where we stood ethically as far as our environmental impact, and our quality,” said Bianca. “We never want to deviate from those things because that’s what’s important to us.” Special autumn deals at the spectacular spot In October, Coffee House Mojacar will offer special deals to ring in the autumn season with its patrons. Homemade spooky sweets and autumn treats will be available at the restaurant, and on “Frugal Fridays,” as the owners call it, patrons will be able to receive a 10 per cent discount on their bills if they present their pension card and if two or more of the main dishes are ordered. Coffee House Mojacar can be found on Paseo del Mediterraneo 61. It is open every day of the week from 8:30am to 4:00pm, making it a perfect option for an idyllic and leisurely autumn breakfast, brunch, or lunch.
