Argos Black Friday deal sees Freely TV drop to £129 - it rivals Sky for less

Smart TVs are becoming increasingly popular due to their wireless design, access to popular streaming apps like Netflix and easy web browsing. Once a luxury of high-end sets, an early Argos Black Friday deal is now making it much more affordable. In a rare and fantastic offer, this Bush 40-inch TV is now less than £130, down from its usual price tag of £159 to just £129. Plus, it boasts an FHD HDR10 screen quality, which provides clear picture quality with colour depth, typically a feature found in pricier models. Another impressive feature, especially considering its budget-friendly price, is the addition of Freely, a software that replaced Freeview and allows viewers to watch on-demand TV for free, rivalling Sky. Freely also has the advantage of not requiring a satellite dish or any pesky wires. It simply operates off Wi-Fi, so as long as users have a strong connection at home, it'll stream channels such as BBC , Channel 5, ITV and Channel 4 over the internet, similar to how rival Sky Glass operates. In addition to its on-demand content options and live show viewing, users can catch up on any missed content using the 'My List' feature. This Bush model runs on TiVo, which brings apps onto the TV's interface for quick access. Freely is available on a broad range of TV sets, so punters aren't limited to this Bush model. Another option is the Hisense AQ4 32-inch model, currently slashed to £149 at Currys. This one boasts Dolby audio and a superior refresh rate (of 60Hz) compared to the Bush model. As someone who keeps an eye on plenty of telly deals, the refresh rate is a bit of a letdown with the Argos Bush TV deal, as 50Hz is fine for watching dramas and news, but any action-packed fans or fast sports content might experience slight blurring. This is where a higher-end model like the Sky Glass TV or a Samsung 2025 OLED device comes into its own. This 65-inch model has a motion accelerator of 165Hz, but it does come with a hefty price tag of over £2,000. As we've mentioned before, the features of Freely do give those of Sky TV a run for their money, offered through its Sky Glass TV sets and Sky Stream box, which is a completely different system, but they share similar satellite-free benefits and rely entirely on the internet to function. Sky Glass currently sets you back £6 a month for the device and an extra £15 a month if users fancy adding the device to a Sky Stream package. This will bag users' TV channels and a Netflix subscription. The sale is part of Argos' early Black Friday bargains, as the retailer has rolled out a raft of savings ahead of the November 28 date. Other deals in its sale extravaganza include a massive discount on Garmin smartwatches. This Garmin Forerunner 255 is currently knocked down by £79, dropping from £249 to £169. Returning to Freely, it's been a hit with customers who have previously struggled with poor satellite signal, as one Trustpilot reviewer shared. They said: "Bought my Hisense about 2 weeks ago to benefit from Freely. "My reception from the outdoor aerial is rubbish. I can now enjoy all the regular channels easily. Overall, extremely happy with it. Pretty much plug and play." Another user penned: "Bought a 43-inch Bush QLED TV with Freely. A little problem setting it up, but Argos Technical support sorted me out. The TV works very well over the internet for all available channels. "The picture and sound are superb. Freely also works well if you add an aerial, which enables you to pick up the rest of the Freeview channels not available over the internet."
