EXCLUSIVE: Annaleigh Ashford (Happy Face), J. Harrison Ghee (Some Like It Hot on Broadway) and Gus Heagerty are set to guest star in NBC‘s new cheerleading comedy Stumble. Written by veteran comedy showrunners Liz and Jeff Astrof, Stumble centers on Courteney Potter (Jenn Lyon) who is determined to rally her newly recruited junior college cheer squad to win her record-breaking 15th championship and improve their lives along the way. Ashford will play Jolene, a businesswoman with an AI company that’s considering building a data center in Heådltston. As a former cheerleader herself, Jolene is drawn to Courteney’s cheer team. Ghee will portray Charleston, the best cheer choreographer on the planet who enters every room with pride and flare. He’s been hired by Courteney to work with her cheerleaders. Heagerty will play Seph Marigold, Courteney’s eccentric and proud longtime stalker who just might turn out to also be her hero. Stumble, which has a mockumentary style, will follow Happy’s Place on Fridays as part of two comedy blocks that the network is airing this fall. The show premieres tomorrow, November 7 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT. The single-cam comedy also stars Taran Killam, Ryan Pinkston, Jarrett Austin Brown and Arianna Davis. Kristin Chenoweth is set to recur. Previously announced guest stars include Jeff Hiller, Ashlie Atkinson, Dascha Polanco, Busy Phillips, Sean Kaufman and Alfredo Narciso. In addition to the Astrof siblings, executive producers include Dana Honor, Monica Aldama and Jeff Blitz, who also directs. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio. Ashford most recently starred opposite Dennis Quaid in Paramount+s true-crime drama series Happy Face. Other TV credits include Impeachment: American Crime Story: B Positive, Masters of Sex, Bad Education and Unbelievable. She also recently starred in the horror thriller Dust, opposite Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Ashford is repped by CAA, Beth Rosner Management and SRDAB&D. Ghee is a Tony Award-winning actor who made history as the first non-binary performer to win Best Leading Actor in a Musical for Some Like It Hot. On screen, Ghee starred in Netflix’s Raising Dion, the hit Fox anthology series Accused, and HBO’s High Maintenance. Most recently they starred in the world premiere musical Saturday Church and as Lady Chablis in the Broadway-bound Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Ghee is repped by Nicolosi & Co. Heagerty is best known on social media for his sharp, satirical comedy videos. He recently directed a workshop of White Girls Gang at the Williamstown Theater Festival.
