Amazon Web Services (AWS) have been offline for a substantial amount of time today as Amazon continues to work to bring the servers affected back to full functionality and figure out what happened. For now, many services run through AWS saw outages lasting around eight hours, and some service still continue to remain offline. Amazon Web Service outages were spotted by DownDetector, which noted numerous reports of services being disrupted starting around 11:30 p.m. PT / 2:30 a.m. ET on Monday morning. Among those affected were SnapChat, Pokemon Go, Roblox, Dead by Daylight, Asana, and much more. Many of these services have been brought back online, such as Dead by Daylight, but others, such as Asana, remain spotty. Amazon has since begun working on the outages and posting updates on its AWS health website. AWS has been one of the jewels of Amazon’s overall offerings, providing cloud server data and infrastructure to companies around the world. It continues to make billions of dollars in revenue for the company each quarter. When AWS goes down, as it did today, the results are noticeable. Even so, Amazon claims this time it was a particular set of East servers causing the problem, and having identified the issue, it is working to bring everything back to fully working function. With AWS having gone down for a bit, we’re here to let you know that, no, you weren’t crazy. Amazon is on the case and should have everything up and running soon. Stay tuned to the AWS topic for more updates.
