Amazon India has been hailed as one of the most trusted ecommerce platforms in India for a very long time because of its transparent offers and no-nonsense delivery system. However, a pretty recent case has caused a lot of ruckus and a fallout in terms of trust on the platform. For those who are unaware, the incident took place in Bengaluru, where a techie named Premanand ordered a new phone, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, from Amazon for Rs 1,87,000. And just like a regular order, he received the order and went on the unbox it while recording the same. Things went haywire when he opened the box and found a marble tile instead of a new foldable phone. The victim reported the crime on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) and later lodged a police complaint as well at the Kumaraswamy Police Station. What Amazon Did In The Matter? Amazon took the matter in its hands and returned the complete amount to the user and also offered to cooperate completely in the police investigation. As of now, the police are investigating the delivery logs and tracking data to determine the stage at which the original order got compromised. For example, previously, the packing was rough, and people got to know about the order being fishy even before opening the box. But now, as stated by Premanand himself, the selected tile had a wait pretty similar to the original Galaxy Z Fold 7, which further removed the doubts from his mind until he unboxed the parcel.
