All lanes of the Monitor-Merrimack Memorial Bridge Tunnel in Hampton Roads are closed after a crash involving two tractor trailers. The accident occurred on the northbound side of travel at 11:17 a.m., according to Virginia State Police. There aren’t a lot of details at this time, other than one of the two tractor trailers caught fire following the crash. According to a traffic alert from the Virginia Department of Transportation, all northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Interstate 664 at the tunnel in Suffolk and Newport News. Diversions are in place on I-664 north at College Drive (exit 8A) in Suffolk and I-664 south at Terminal Avenue (exit 7) in Newport News. The incident is under investigation.
