EXCLUSIVE: Alana Haim (Licorice Pizza) has inked a deal to star alongside Aubrey Plaza in The Heidi Fleiss Story, the forthcoming dark comedy serving as a biopic for “Hollywood Madam” Heidi Fleiss. The Heidi Fleiss Story takes place in 1993 Los Angeles, where a powerful young woman named Heidi Fleiss (Plaza) is arrested for running the largest high-end prostitution ring in the world. With the unlikely help of an aspiring writer, Jacolyn (Haim), who vows to be the one to write “The Heidi Fleiss Story,” Heidi scrambles around L.A. trying to blackmail and leverage various connections to get the case dropped. Set to shoot in Los Angeles early next year, the film will mark the feature directorial debut of Leah Rachel, who’s working from a script written with Travis Jackson and Rachel Sennott. Jessamine Burgum and Kara Durrett are producing for Pinky Promise, alongside Plaza for Evil Hag Productions. Nominated for four Grammys for her work alongside older sisters Este and Danielle as part of the lauded pop rock band Haim, Alana also secured numerous major nominations for her breakout film role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza opposite Cooper Hoffman. Most notably, this included nominations at the Golden Globes, the BAFTA Awards, and the Critics Choice Awards. More recently, she’s been seen in Anderson’s hit Warner Bros. pic One Battle After Another, as well as The Mastermind, the Cannes-premiering heist film from Kelly Reichardt, which Mubi released stateside earlier this month. Upcoming, Haim will also be seen starring opposite Zendaya and Robert Pattinson in A24’s The Drama from Dream Scenario helmer Kristoffer Borgli. She is repped by UTA, Entertainment 360, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
