Akali Dal Leader Ajaypal Middukhera Blames Mayor–MLA Feud for Mohali’s Garbage Mess

Condemning the political deadlock behind this civic collapse, Senior Akali Dal leader Ajaypal Middukhera issued a sharp statement holding local leaders accountable. “It is unfortunate that the personal conflict between the Mayor and the MLA has taken priority over public welfare. Mohali’s residents are being forced to live amid filth and disease because of this administrative failure. Instead of indulging in blame games, both leaders must rise above politics and work together to restore cleanliness and civic dignity to the city,” Middukhera said. Mohali’s civic decline is now starkly visible in official data — the city has dropped to 11th place out of 35 cities in Punjab in the latest Swachh Survekshan survey, a steep fall from its earlier distinction as the state’s cleanest city. With the city generating nearly 150 to 200 tonnes of waste daily and no designated dumping site in place, its sanitation system stands on the brink of collapse. Civic groups, environmental activists, and residents are urgently demanding immediate government intervention before the crisis spirals completely out of control.
