The Maharashtra State Selection Trials witnessed thrilling action at the Global Sports TSG Pickleball Centre in Mumbai, as players competed for a chance to represent the state at the IPA Nationals 2025, scheduled in Bengaluru from November 13-16. In a standout performance, Aaliya Ebrahim emerged victorious in the women’s open singles, showcasing poise, skill, and determination, setting the tone for the rest of the tournament. With this title-winning performance, she sealed her place in the IPA Nationals. In the U12 category, Kaveer Mehta triumphed over Veer Chugh in boys’ singles, while Sanchi Khillare claimed the girls’ singles crown, defeating Praathna Motiani. Doubles titles in the U12 division went to Shivanya-Sanchi (girls) and Shivaan Chhabria-Veer Chugh (boys). The U14 competitions highlighted emerging talent, with Nirvair defeating Yanniv Sainaani in boys’ singles, and Ridhima Gungewad-Laxmi Zambre winning the girls’ doubles title. Nirvair and Yanniv also teamed up to win the U14 boys’ doubles final against Soham Mehta-Kabbir Kamra. In the U16 categories, Anushka Chhabria bested Shreejesh Ayathan in girls’ singles, while Aradhya Gaud-Sasha Salvi claimed the girls’ doubles crown. Arjun Agarwal won the boys’ singles title, and Arjun Singh-Aditya Singh secured the boys’ doubles final. The U18 finals featured Arush Nitture defeating Aarav Arora in boys’ singles, while Samaira Sippy impressed in girls’ singles. In the senior divisions, Shaks Devnani overcame Unaiza Punjabi in 50+ women’s singles, and Kiran Salian-Sachin Jain clinched the men’s doubles 50+ title against Thakur Rohira-Nozer Amalsadiwala. The 50+ women’s doubles crown went to Anaita Gandhi-Ruchee Shah, who beat Shruti Kewalramani-Manita Gujral. Kiran Salian, Sachin Jain, and Sachin Manjrekar spoke passionately about the growth of pickleball in Maharashtra, emphasizing how the sport is fostering talent across age groups and creating a thriving culture of competition and camaraderie. From young enthusiasts discovering the game to seniors embracing competitive play, Maharashtra is fast becoming a hub for pickleball excellence.
