FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Higher Education has executed several development projects at a cost of 68 million afghanis at the university of western Farah province. The projects include the varsity’s gate and security posts, phase one and two of the perimeter wall, a research farm, irrigation canals, storage facilities, a parking area and flower beds, some of which have been completed while others are still under construction. Minister Sheikh Neda Mohammad Nadeem Nadeem highlighted the importance of the infrastructure projects and promised providing more facilities to support educational institutions and students nationwide, urged all students to focus not only on contemporary sciences but also on ideological religious and intellectual studies to gain awareness of their faith and the tactics of opponents. Meanwhile, Farah’s governor Mullah Mohammad Hafiz Mujahid emphasized the necessity of higher education within the Islamic system, stating: “It is now time to expand both religious and contemporary education.” He added that, with modern technology, comprehensive progress can be achieved through education. The governor also described the current security situation as an opportunity for learning and encouraged all students to continue their studies in a safe environment so they could contribute to the country’s development in the future. On the other hand, Maulvi Samiullah Haqqani, Chancellor of Farah University, expressed gratitude for the Ministry of Higher Education’s attention to the university and requested the provision of laboratory equipment, completion of the remaining perimeter walls, construction of housing for faculty, and the approval of the Faculty of Medicine and other faculties. The projects were funded from the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) budget.
