49ers injury updates: No Brandon Aiyuk this week, Brock Purdy uncertain, Mac Jones suffers minor setback

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters during a conference call on Monday, one day after the team's 25-15 loss to the Houston Texans. He provided several key injury updates from the game. The following players are considered day-to-day after sustaining injuries on Sunday: DT Alfred Collins (shoulder) DT Jordan Elliott (ankle) QB Mac Jones (knee contusion) DE Sam Okuayinonu (ankle) LB Dee Winters (knee) The good news for San Francisco is that none of these injuries appear to be serious. However, Jones' knee issue warrants watching, especially given that quarterback Brock Purdy's status remains uncertain. Shanahan said it's too early to determine whether Purdy will be available for Sunday's matchup against the New York Giants. "I think it's too early to say," Shanahan said. "I don't think it's a long shot, but I know he's doing better, and we'll see how he's doing Wednesday. Hopefully, if he's doing good, he'll get in some reps." Other 49ers injury updates The 49ers plan to open offensive lineman Ben Bartch's practice window on Wednesday as he continues to work his way back from the high-ankle sprain that landed him on injured reserve. Earlier, Shanahan mentioned that wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (ACL, MCL) might have his practice window opened this week, but that will not happen. "I think it's week to week from here on out that he's got a chance," Shanahan said. "I think it would have surprised me if it was this week, but that was just me saying that, every week, I think he's getting closer to having a chance, just not this week." When asked if wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee) is any closer to returning, Shanahan said, "I hope so. I'm sure he's doing better this week than last week, but we still haven't been told that he'll for sure be back. We'll have to evaluate that when we get to Wednesday." Pearsall has not played since Week 4. Wide receiver Jauan Jennings has been playing through several injuries. Shanahan commented, "Jauan's been banged up all year. I think he's better now than he was two weeks ago. But by no means is he 100%. He's still dealing with an ankle. Those ribs linger for a while. His shoulder, also. But probably more the ankle than anything. But he's getting better each week. I don't think he had a setback yesterday—none that I've heard—but he's been battling every week to get out there." Additionally, it remains unlikely that center Jake Brendel or defensive end Bryce Huff will return from their respective hamstring injuries in time for Sunday's game.
