49ers' George Kittle Rips Into Offense Following Loss to Texans

The San Francisco 49ers entered their Week 8 matchup on the road against the Houston Texans with a 5-2 record and as one of the best teams in the NFC. While many thought they would pull off a win over the previously 2-4 Texans, that wasn’t the case. When all was said and done and the final whistle was blown, the 49ers ended up losing by a final score of 26-15. Nothing went right for San Francisco on the offensive side of the football all game long. With Brock Purdy out once again this week, Mac Jones did his best but simply couldn’t put enough points on the board. He completed 19 of his 32 passes for 193 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He did not hold back from praising the defense, while criticizing the defense all in one quote. George Kittle #85 of the San Francisco 49ers celebrates after scoring a touchdown in the second quarter of the game against the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium on October 26, 2025 in Houston, Texas. In his post-game meeting with the press, Kittle opened up honestly with his thoughts on the game. “I thought our defense played really well,” Kittle said. “They were flying around, hitting people. If you’re holding the team to four field goals and just two touchdowns, our offense has to score points. When you’re three and out repeatedly, we’re not really doing anything to help our young defense that’s adjusting and figuring out the way they want to play football. I think this is really on the offense. I was really proud of how our defense played today.” Kittle isn’t wrong with his breakdown of the game. The 49ers were forced to punt five times. Throughout the course of the game, the 32-year-old star tight end caught four passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. The 49ers will need to get back on track and bounce back next week. It was a tough loss against the Texans, but the team still has a lot to be happy about through eight weeks. Hopefully, the offense can snap out of the funk it was in against Houston and put together another big-time performance next week. It will be interesting to see if Purdy is able to get back on the field. For more on the San Francisco 49ers and general NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
