AEW star Chris Jericho gave a major head start to the Jacksonville-based promotion by being the only well-known star promoting it at first. Over time, more stars joined, and the company got off to a strong beginning. His initial run stood out from everyone else. Unfortunately, fans felt he had overstayed his welcome and lost interest in him.No character worked, and many believed that Chris Jericho had been taking positions meant for the promising stars in the locker room. After nearly six years with the promotion, he might leave All Elite Wrestling in December 2025 when his contract expires. Reports suggest that the former AEW World Champion might be on his way to WWE for a retirement tour and Hall of Fame induction.While the Le Champion did many things during his AEW run, the company should have booked him in a variety of compelling angles. Let's look at some missed opportunities that could have done wonders for the Jacksonville-based promotion.#3. The List of JerichoChris Jericho was known as the master of reinventions in WWE. He had a large catalog of successful gimmicks in the sports entertainment juggernaut. He also tried different characters in AEW. While the initial ones, like Le Champion and Painmaker, were a major hit, gimmicks of The Demo God, The Ocho, Lionheart, Learning Tree, and King of New York didn't work.Tony Khan should have considered introducing 'The List' in AEW. Y2J's The List of Jericho gained popularity in 2016 in WWE and remains well remembered by fans. It was a golden opportunity for All Elite Wrestling, but they missed out on it.#2. Chris Jericho didn't feud with Kenny Omega in AEWAEW didn't come into existence out of nowhere. Multiple aspects led to its establishment. One of these was the 2018 All In event. Another was the excitement around the Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega NJPW feud. Shortly after Le Champion left WWE, he wrestled The Cleaner at Wrestle Kingdom 12 for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. The match's impact led to the happening of All In.The duo also main-evented the inaugural 2019 Double or Nothing pay-per-view. This tells a lot about how important the rivalry was to AEW. Unfortunately, the two former AEW World Champions never faced each other in a one-on-one match again. They teamed up briefly in 2023, but it was poorly booked. The two could have broken many records if they had locked horns in recent years.#1. The Death Riders vs. Learning TreeThe Death Riders have been terrorizing AEW since September 2024, while The Demo God was trying his best to effectuate the Learning Tree's success. However, fans showed little interest in the new faction. Jon Moxley's faction also appeared to be struggling before The One True King's feud with Hangman Page.Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho had battled in the early years of the company. Their feud turned out to be a major attraction. The two could have faced each other again if the Death Riders and Learning Tree had met. Their few confrontations could have been epic. Unfortunately, they might not face each other in the same ring in the future, as Chris Jericho may switch to WWE.It will be interesting to see what is next for the former AEW World Champion.
