“Pre Madonna wannabe”: NFL fans react to Patrick Mahomes’ pregame outfit as Chiefs QB arrives dons all-black for MNF clash vs. Commanders

Patrick Mahomes had an interesting choice of outfit to arrive in on Monday, but it did not please everyone. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was spotted wearing an all-black getup - shirt, coat, pants, and shoes. It’s gone too far," another demanded. Before tonight's game, the NFL acknowledged a significant career milestone that Mahomes had reached in his last game against the Las Vegas Raiders. It was his 93rd win, the most by any player before his 31st birthday. There, he established himself as a prospect to watch under Kliff Kingsbury.Eventually, their paths diverged. The quarterback went to the pros in 2017, while the coach would not join him until 2019, when he became the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. The two would face off against each other for the first time in 2022. The Chiefs routed the Cardinals 44-21. Kingsbury was fired at the end of that season, but returned to the league in 2024 as the Commanders' offensive coordinator, and he thrived, helping the franchise reach the conference title game for the first time since the days of The Hogs. And now, their paths have converged again. Last Thursday, Mahomes discussed how he flourished under his old coach's mentorship:“He’s one of the first people that truly believed in me playing the quarterback position. He gave me a ton of advice of refining me, but letting me still just be me and play to my strengths. A great coach, a great person that I still stay in touch with. ...I think that’s something that is special about him as a coach.”He continued:“Coach Kingsbury never ever forced me to be just a pocket passer or hold the ball a certain way. He would obviously help with my footwork and stuff like that and going through progressions, but he would just let me play when it came to playing. He was like, once you get to the game, you got to just go out there and play your game.”Across seven completed games, Mahomes has 1,800 yards and 14 touchdowns against two interceptions in the air. He also has 250 yards and four scores on the ground.
