A This Morning star has admitted that his time on Strictly Come Dancing was “the hardest thing [he's] ever done” — and believes the show is due for a major shake-up. TV personality and NHS doctor Dr Ranj Singh , who competed on the 2018 series, told the Daily Star the experience tested him both physically and mentally. “I mean, it was one of the hardest things I've ever done, I'm not gonna lie,” he said as he promoted HomeServe's new campaign . “And at the time it was, it was hard physically and mentally, because it's full on. I was working in A&E at the same time as rehearsing, so physically and mentally, it was exhausting. "Then at the end of it, you've got this big performance. For me, I had loads of anxiety. That was probably the first time I really dealt with anxiety, and it was obviously down to the show.” Looking back, Dr Ranj says he’s grateful for the experience and would jump at the chance to do it all again, but also hinted at a change he’d like to see in the show’s format. “Now looking back on it, that was 2018 we’re talking — seven years ago,” he said. “I would love to do it again, knowing what I know now, because I fell in love with dance afterwards. Australia did it with Dancing with the Stars, and I hope they do like an All Stars version where they get people back. They used to do it for Christmas specials, but they don’t anymore. I think audiences would like to see familiar faces. “I’d want to be partnered with a guy, I didn’t get a chance to do that last time. But if Janette Manrara [his former partner] came back, even better. It’d be lovely to be partnered in the same-sex pairing. I’ve never really done that.” In other news, Dr Ranj has been busy helping households across the UK stay in tip-top shape with HomeServe and starred in a tongue-in-cheek video styled like a medical drama, where he says: “Just like our bodies, homes show symptoms when something is wrong. "If you ignore them, they can quickly turn into something much more serious. Taking action now could save you a lot of stress and money when the cold weather hits.” He continued: “As a doctor, I know how small health concerns can escalate if left untreated. The same goes for our homes. "A dripping tap, a musty smell or a radiator that is not heating properly might feel easy to brush off, but these are warning signs that something bigger could be coming. The sooner we act, the healthier and happier our homes will be.” Want all the biggest Showbiz and TV news straight to your inbox? Sign up for our free Daily Star Showbiz newsletter.
