A "jealous" girl allegedly killed her newborn baby sister by throwing her from a forth floor window. The five-year-old is said to have been left unattended with her 21-day-old sister in their family flat in Vasilyevo, Russia . Her mum had reportedly left the children alone while her husband was at work . A witness said they heard the five-year-old's screams coming from the fourth floor window before spotting the tragic tot's body on the concrete floor. The witness said their “knees went weak” at the horror sight. Paramedics tragically pronounced the baby dead at the scene. Investigators are looking into if the five-year-old was “jealous” of her new sister, and why the children were unattended. The Russian Investigative Committee, which is now leading the inquiry, said that “a criminal case has been opened over the death of the infant”. It’s believed the girls’ mum was visiting a friend when the devastating incident took place, and she may now face criminal charges and potentially jail time. One local report said: “The actions of the parents who left the children unattended, as well as other possible scenarios, are being investigated.” Another local report stated: “The older girl was upset that there was another child in the flat, and out of jealousy, she threw the infant out of the window.” District chief in Zelenodolsk, Tatarstan, Mikhail Afanasyev, said: “Law enforcement officers are now investigating the situation. I express my condolences to the family of the deceased and urge all parents to be vigilant and never leave your children alone. The heartbreaking tragedy comes just months after a 21-month-old slipped from her father’s grip and tumbled onto concrete , while at a waterpark on a family holiday. The toddler and her dad were going down one of the slide at the Aquagan waterpark in Lopar, Croatia when the little girl slid from her father’s clutches and Gell around 3.5 metres. The young German girl was urgently flown to hospital, but despite medical staff's exhaustive efforts, she passed away due to severe brain and internal organ injuries. Local media were informed by witnesses of the chaos that unfolded at the waterpark, with employees and emergency services rushing to a specific area of the facility. The Mayor of Lopar expressed that the community is "extremely shaken" by the event, which is said to be the first significant mishap at the waterpark in two decades.
