A dramatic scandal has emerged from Kumasi following the funeral of the late Asantehemaa, as a renowned fetish priestess, Nana Otafregya, accuses a young man of stealing her personal belongings after an intimate encounter. According to Nana Otafregya, the incident occurred during the highly attended funeral rites of the late queen mother of the Ashanti Kingdom, where mourners, traditional leaders, and spiritualists from across Ghana gathered to pay their respects. The priestess, who was reportedly performing spiritual incantations at the ceremony, said she encountered a young man identified as Dela Agyemang, who appeared to have been fascinated by her presence and activities. Narrating her ordeal on Kasapa fm, Accra, she said Dela was seen taking pictures of her as she chanted and performed her rituals. After the ceremony, he allegedly approached her, expressing admiration and interest in her. The fetish priestess claims that Dela’s charm and persistence won her over, leading to a friendly conversation that later escalated into what she described as a “romantic connection.” The pair reportedly went out to eat fufu and shared drinks at a local joint near the Manhyia area before booking a guest house for the night. Nana Otafregya said that during the encounter, Dela Agyemang informed her that his mobile money account was inactive, which prevented him from sending or receiving any funds — a claim she didn’t suspect at the time. However, the following morning took an unexpected turn. The fetish priestess awoke to find Dela Agyemang gone — along with her mobile phones, spiritual paraphernalia, and other valuable items belonging to her clients. According to her, the alleged theft has not only caused her financial loss but also spiritual turmoil, as the missing items included sacred materials used for rituals. Deeply distressed, Nana Otafregya has since embarked on a self-described “media campaign” to expose Dela Agyemang and compel him to return the stolen items. She claims that her spiritual powers have weakened because the gods she serves are angry over the defilement caused by the sexual encounter and the theft that followed. “The gods have turned their backs on me,” she lamented in a radio interview. “Until Dela returns my items and performs the necessary purification rites, my powers will remain dormant.” She said her victim said he stays at Lapaz Hospital, which she has for the past two weeks, went to search for him, and hasn’t found him. She has threatened to curse Dela Agyemang if he failed to show up and bring her belongings. The bizarre incident has since gone viral on social media, sparking mixed reactions. While some sympathize with the fetish priestess, others have mocked her for allowing herself to be deceived at a public event of such magnitude. As of now, Dela Agyemang’s whereabouts remain unknown. Police have not yet confirmed whether an official complaint has been lodged.
