‘Gen V’ Season 2 Finale Twist Sets Up ‘The Boys’ Ending

Key Points Marie and allies defeat Godolkin, ending his reign with a brutal, explosive showdown. Finale connects Gen V to The Boys, featuring Starlight’s invitation to “join the resistance.” Emotional tributes honor Andre (Chance Perdomo); Season 3 depends on viewer interest. Hell Week set the stage for a wild Gen V season finale. Annabeth’s (Keeya King) vision of a blood-soaked Marie (Jaz Sinclair) foreshadowed chaos as she and Cate (Maddie Phillips) slipped from Stan Edgar’s (Giancarlo Esposito) bunker to confront Dean Cipher (Hamish Linklater). A newly healed Polarity (Sean Patrick Thomas), along with Jordan (London Thor/Derek Luh), Sam (Asa Germann) and Greg (Stephen Kalyn), clashed with Cipher in a frantic body-hopping fight as a diversion. The real shock came when Marie revived Thomas Godolkin (Ethan Slater) only to discover Cipher was merely a powerless puppet named Doug Brightbill (also played by Hamish Linklater), controlled for decades by the true villain: Godolkin himself. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 Episode 8, “Guardians of Godolkin,” brings every thread of Gen V Season 2 crashing together in a fiery, full-circle finale. It opens in 1967 with the burning lab from Episode 1, revealing that Thomas Godolkin survived the fire by injecting himself with the same Compound V that created Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (Aya Cash). The serum saved his life, but the fire left him horrifically scarred until Marie healed him, restoring both his body and his thirst for control. In the present, Godolkin and Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) revel in the success of their long game: manipulating Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and the God U gang to bring him back to power. But the perfect plan quickly turns monstrous when he gathers students for a so-called “advanced seminar” that devolves into a violent culling. Marie, Sam, Jordan, Greg, Emma (Lizze Broadway), Ally (Georgie Murphy), and Harper (Jessica Clement) try to stop him, but it’s only with Polarity’s arrival, with his magnetic powers freeing Marie from Godolkin’s control, that the group turns the tide. Marie ends the chaos in brutal fashion, making Godolkin’s head explode. As the dust settles, Polarity stays behind to face the fallout, urging the young supes to flee. The season closes with Marie, Sam, Cate, Jordan, and Emma on the run, meeting Starlight and A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) on the open road, teasing their fight against Vought and a looming supe war that’s only beginning. Here are some of the biggest moments from the Gen V Season 2 finale, and how it sets up the final season of The Boys. Related: Everything to Know About Gen V Season 2 How does the Gen V season finale connect to The Boys? The closing moments of Episode 8 make it clear that Gen V’s characters aren’t just making cameos in the final season of The Boys, they’re joining the fight in a big way. Starlight, with an assist from A-Train, tracks down the fugitive Godolkin University crew and delivers a simple, world-changing question: “Wanna join the resistance?” After a moment of hesitation, they say yes. Where Marie, Sam, Cate, Jordan and Emma fit into The Boys’ final season is still a mystery. But odds are good one of their first acts as newly minted rebels will be helping free Frenchie (Tomer Capone), Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) and Huey (Jack Quaid), who were captured in The Boys Season 4 finale, ironically with help from the now reformed Sam and Cate. What characters from The Boys appeared in Gen V Season 2? Beyond Starlight, Sister Sage, and A-Train, the Gen V Season 2 finale also featured a cameo from Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell). After Godolkin’s revival, Polarity drives the now-deprogrammed Doug to get medical help. But just when it seems they’ve escaped, Black Noir ambushes their car, killing Doug and taking Polarity captive. Noir later reappears in one of the finale’s most humorous scenes. Far chattier than his predecessor, he casually critiques the plot of one of Polarity’s old Vought-produced superhero films, offering a darkly funny and meta reminder that even assassins in The Boys universe have opinions on bad storytelling. Related: ‘The Boys’ Season 5 Will Be Its Last—Everything We Know So Far A final tribute to Chance Perdomo In an exclusive Parade interview ahead of Gen V Season 2, the cast reflected on how they honored Chance Perdomo, who played fan-favorite hero Andre Anderson. “In some ways, it was therapeutic to be able to talk in code about Chance as Andre,” said London Thor (Jordan). “One of my favorite scenes too, was getting to do a scene with [Jaz] where we could talk about Andre, but the whole time talking about Chance.” That heartfelt tribute carries through to the Gen V Season 2 finale, where two emotional moments clearly echo Perdomo’s presence. Freed from Godolkin’s control, Doug shares a touching exchange with Polarity, saying, “You’d of been so proud of Andre. He was f—king fearless. He risked everything for the sake of his friends. Your son is the greatest hero I’ve ever seen.” Later, as Polarity sends the young supes into hiding, Emma tells him she thinks he’s staying behind as a suicide misison. “It was a suicide mission before,” Polarity replies. “I don’t know how I’m supposed to keep going on without Andre but I’m going to. He’s going to be with me as long as I’m here.” Both scenes serve as poignant, in-world farewells, not just to Andre, but to Perdomo himself, closing the season on a note of love, loss, and lasting legacy. Will there be a Season 3 of Gen V?
