In the new video, the Oscar-winning actor sat down with his wife to take a trip down memory lane, enlisting the help of Law & Order voice actor Steve Zirnkilton to make the anniversary even more legendary. Zirnkilton, who narrates the iconic intro for Law & Order, starts off the beginning of the clip by stating, “What follows is a real police report. No names have been changed. ‘Cause he was totally guilty.” McConaughey, 55, is seen playing the bongos in the new video—this time, fully clothed—while his wife reads the police report. The duo then enjoyed a drink together, cheersing glasses of Pantalones Tequila to commemorate the occasion. What Happened with Matthew McConaughey and the Bongos? On Oct. 25, 1999, police responded to a noise complaint at McConaughey’s Texas home. They discovered the actor naked, playing the bongos and under the influence of marijuana. The True Detective star—who was 29 at the time—was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest. The drug-related charge and the charge of resisting arrest were ultimately dropped, though McConaughey pled guilty to the noise violation charge and paid a $50 fine. Pantsless and Famous Cocktail In honor of the 26th anniversary of the notorious bongos incident, the McConaughey’s are celebrating in the only way they know how—with tequila.
