EXCLUSIVE: Sony and Aaron Sorkin’s Social Network sequel The Social Reckoning has added Portia Doubleday (Mr Robot), Patrick Fischler (American Fiction), Joey Brooks (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty), Sierra Capri (Netflix’s On My Block) and Tehmina Sunny (Partner Track). Oscar winner Mikey Madison, Emmy winner Jeremy Allen White, Oscar nominee Jeremy Strong, and Emmy nominee Bill Burr lead cast in the movie, which Sony has dated for October 9, 2026. Filming is understood to be underway in Vancouver. Described as a companion piece to the hit film, The Social Network, Sorkin’s original screenplay tells the true story of how Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets. Previously announced in the cast are also Wunmi Mosaku, Billy Magnussen, Betty Gilpin, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Anna Lambe, Nelson Franklin, Aidan Laprete and Kelley Pereira. Todd Black, Peter Rice, Sorkin and Stuart Besser are producing. Released in 2010 by Sony Pictures, The Social Network earned $226M globally and was nominated for eight Oscars, winning three.
