After years of facing criticism from both his family and the public about his parenting skills, Sister Wives star Kody Brown has finally addressed his shortcomings as a father. On the latest episode of FOX’s Special Forces, Brown met with Directing Staff members Rudy Reyes and Mark “Billy” Billingham after struggling with leadership and failing to follow instructions during demanding challenges. In a YouTube clip from the sit-down, the reality star was posed some challenging questions about his personal life and difficulties in leading his own family of 18 children and four wives. Brown was asked by Reyes, “Do you feel that you’re taking your proper responsibility in the fallout of your kids?” He responded, “I don’t want to admit I’m wrong sometimes. I don’t like being wrong. There was a point in my life when I was concerned about everybody.” It was then that Billingham called out Brown for his statement, saying, “You’re concerned about everybody as long as they sang to your tune. As long as they agree with everything you believe in. I don’t think you’re being honest with me.” Parade Daily🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 “I’m the discrepancy,” the Sister Wives star continued. “I should have had a stronger relationship with my children.” He added, “I’m at a place in my life now where I’m very willing to say that I’ve been wrong. My failures were because I didn’t know about being a good dad and husband, and I thought I did. I really thought I did, and I misunderstood that. I did it wrong in so many ways, and I hated being blamed for it, and so it made me resistant to ownership.” Reyes then called Brown’s views “adolescent” before Billingham sent him back to his barracks with the following message. “When you really f****** own that, you’ll do something about it. Dig deep and keep going.” Fans said Kody Brown won’t ‘ever change’ Sister Wives fans flocked to Reddit to respond to Kody Brown’s comments on Special Forces, flooding the thread with opinions. Many felt his apologies were long overdue but argued that, ultimately, his words had little impact on how he’s portraying himself during Season 20. One viewer wrote, “He just tells on himself. ‘I gave my kids what I had, as long as they were engaging me, they got reciprocation.’ Everything is transactional, including his relationship with his children.” A second fan penned, “Frankly, I don’t believe he will ever change. Going on Special Forces won’t solve the problem. He’s known about this horrible issue with himself for decades and will not change.” “I was wondering if appearing on Special Forces was part of Kody’s redemption arc. After tonight’s episode, it showed him for the adolescent that he is.” A fourth noted, “It’s about time.” Sister Wives Season 20 continues to explore Kody’s strained relationships with his ex-wives Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown and many of their shared children: Logan, Aspyn, Leon, Mykelti, Madison, Hunter, Paedon, Garrison (died 2024), Dayton, Gabriel, Gwendlyn, Aurora, Ysabel, Breanna, Savannah, Truely, Solomon, and Ariella. On-camera, Kody only maintains a parental relationship with his kids with his legal wife, Robyn Brown.
